If action and a strong hero is what you look for in a TV series, look no further with 24. Each season takes the audience through one day of the Los Angeles Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU) and, working as a real-time show, provides immense action and drama with each minute. 24 couldn't have been aired at a more apropos time; aired by Fox on November 6, 2001, the show piggy backed on what has been the worst terrorist attack in the United States, 9/11. With terrorism hot on everyone's mind and fears on an all-time high, 24 provided both an outlet to escape and a reminder of the world today.
The Los Angeles Counter Terrorist Unit is made up of remarkable and unforgettable characters like, Jack Bauer (Rebellious CTU Agent) and Chloe O'Brian (Computer/Technology Expert). Characters change often as disaster strikes and bombs go off. Conspiracy is a main component in the show, mainly taking place at CTU. There is always someone suspected of infiltrating CTU and providing top secret information to known terrorists, causing constant distrust and secrecy within the team.
Jack Bauer only trusts a few people; and as those individuals fails him, Jack is forced to lead a life that is alone and separate from everyone. The only character to consistently prove her worth and allegiance is Chloe O'Brian. Chloe is the one and only supporter of Jack who never questions anything he does or says.
And who would have the guts to question Jack Bauer? Jack Bauer is the toughest man on TV today, enduring terrorist interrogations that include brutal circumstances. He somehow always gets out of improbable situations and though he is criticized for going against CTU rules, he is the only person who truly cares about the safety of the United States with no agenda attached.
Winner of a Golden Globe for Best Television Series and Emmy winner for Best Dramatic Series, 24 is clearly an audience and critic favorite; for good reason too. With amazing twists and turns, the viewer can never guess where the plot is going but can be sure of one thing; Jack Bauer will save the day no matter what.
