30 Rock is an American comedy series that airs on Thursday nights on NBC. It was created by
Tina Fey and has ten regular cast members. These are
Tina Fey,
Tracy Morgan,
Jane Krakowski,
Jack McBrayer,
Scott Adsit,
Judah Friedlander and
Alec Baldwin. The pilot first aired on October 11, 2006 and included 21 episodes. The second season contained 15 episodes and the third 22 episodes. The show has won sever awards such as a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series, and the Writers Guild of America Award for Best Comedy Series.
Season one starts with Jack Donaghy (
Alec Baldwin) being transferred to NBC headquarters at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York City. To revamp the comedy series The Girlie Show. The shows cast are outraged and Jack causes havoc forcing head writer Liz Lemon (
Tina Fey) to hire movie star Tracy Jordan who also angers the crew of the show by renaming the show TGS with Tracy Jordan or just TGS. The shows become less and less about TGS as the season progress and more about the characters and their lives and jobs. The episodes become less self-contained as the season progresses also with story lines involving Liz's love affair with "The Beeper King", Jenna promoting a movie she was in, Jacks engagement (which was later called off), and Tracy being on the run from The Black Crusaders. Liz also has a second relationship with a man named Floyd.
In season two Liz broke up with Floyd, Jenna became overweight because she starred on Broadway in Mystic Pizza: The Musical, Jack has a relationship with a Democratic congresswoman and Tracy has marital problems with his wife but they later reunite.
When it returned for a third season there were many notable guest stars including
Oprah Winfrey,
Jennifer Aniston (who played Liz's old roommate),
Salma Hayek (as Jacks new girlfriend), and
Alan Alda (who played Jacks father).
