Fox Network Producers and series creator, David.E. Kelly, team up in this eccentric show about a young Boston-based lawyer and her comedic experiences with love.
Calista Flockhart plays the role of Ally McBeal, a witty, high-strung yet lovable woman, who tries to balance her career demands alongside her strong need for a satisfying
Love Life. Her biological clock is racing throughout the course of the show and over time it becomes so overwhelming that Ally McBeal starts to hallucinate there is a tiny dancing baby everywhere she goes. The shows plot has a lot of humor and the story-line could best be described as a legal comedy-drama.
The characters on Ally McBeal are vivid and engaging. The story starts off with young Ally leaving her job to follow her ex-boyfriend, Billy Thomas, to Boston. Billy is not expecting Ally to show up at his law firm and is surprised when she arrives and gets hired on at the same firm Billy is working at, Cage and Fish. Billy turns out to be married to Georgia who later becomes upset to learn that Ally is now working with Billy. Overtime Ally's feelings for Billy re-kindle and grow stronger and thus a love-triangle ensues. The show follows the characters story-lines as they get entangled in sticky emotional situations. There is also a fair amount of story-line that plays out in the court-room as we see the lawyers doing their jobs. The show features a sound-track called, ' The Songs from Ally McBeal.'
