The television show "Burn Notice" is an action drama shown on USA Network starring
Jeffrey Donovan,
Bruce Campbell,
Gabrielle Anwar, and
Sharon Gless. The premise of the show is centered around the burn notice that covert-operations agent Michael Westen (
Jeffrey Donovan) receives; a burn notice is basically a dismissal of an intelligence agent, without explanation and providing them with no resources or cash.
In the first season, on his search for those responsible for his burn notice, Westen is reunited with his ex-girlfriend and former IRA agent Fiona Glenanne (
Gabrielle Anwar), old friend and former Navy SEAL Sam Axe (
Bruce Campbell), and his mother Madeline Westen (
Sharon Gless).
In the second season, Westen uncovers more information about his burn notice and comes into contact with the mysterious Management, whom Westen is both working for and investigating.
In the third season, a new character, Detective Paxson (
Moon Bloodgood), is keeping tabs on Westen. Another character named Tom Strickler (
Ben Shenkman) makes a deal with Westen; in return for some work, Strickler will get Westen his job as a covert operative back.
Most episodes of Burn Notice also show Westen helping solve a small case, either for money, favors, or out of good will.
