Fringe is a FOX television show about the fringe division of the FBI, which is located in the Boston area. The fringe division of the FBI is also under the watchful eye of Homeland Security. FBI special agent, Olivia Dunham, along with once incarcerated brilliant scientist Walter Bishop and his son Peter Bishop, “solve” unexplained cases mainly located in and around the Boston area. Some of their cases do and will take them where ever their expertise is needed. The cases this team find themselves involved in are considered part of fringe science because the people or events that occur have never been witnessed or explained.
In fact, the people or events which occur have a name. It is called the “Pattern.” A pattern would be if a baby was born and within minutes rapidly grew up and died, or unknown diseases that could attack one individual or an entire city. Other fringe science possibilities might be teleportation (time travel) or the string theory which could place you in any situation depending on what road you have taken.
The big, evil corporation involved in all this fringe science and protagonist is Massive Dynamics. Massive Dynamic is head up by
William Bell, who was at one time partners with Walter Bishop. William is supposed to be dead, but as it turns out is alive and well and causing all kinds of unnatural disasters everywhere.
