Home Improvement was on the air from September 1991 to May 1999 and was based on the comedy of Tim Allen.
Tim Allen played the lead role as
Tim Taylor who was married to Jill played by
Patricia Richardson. Tim hosted is own home improvement show “Tool Time” which was co hosted by Al Borland played by
Richard Karn. On the show Tim and Jill had three kids Brad, Randy and Mark. They were played by
Zachery Ty Bryan,
Jonathan Taylor Thomas and
Taran Noah Smith respectively. The family lived in Detroit and had an extremely helpful neighbor Wilson played by Earl Hindman.
The show “Tool Time” was geared toward Tim’s mistakes which were frequent on Home Improvement. The “Tool Time” girl was where
Pamela Anderson first started her career on national television. The joke from “Tool Time” was that the accidents
Tim Taylor portrayed on the show were scripted to the audience but watchers of Home Improvement knew this wasn’t the case.
Tim’s relationship with
The Other characters of the show was what brought out the high comedy of the show. Tim and Al had a love hate relationship where Tim joked about Al but they were always friend in the end. Al was the more knowledgeable of the two when it came to tools and home repairs.
Home Improvement has made its way to syndication in 1995 and has moved networks numerous times since then. The show can still be found on TV in syndication to the day.
