FOX's I Hate My Teenage Daughter is a half hour comedy that stars Jamie Pressly,
Katie Finneran, and
Kevin Rahm of Desperate Housewives fame.
The plot centers on two single mothers. Annie and her compadre Nikki come to the realization that their daughters are "the mean girls" in school. Reminding the women of their own traumatic adolescent and teen years, when they were picked on. After years of spoiling their children, the two women must start to make changes now or the girls' cruelty could be irreversible. The show examines the tumultuous mother-daughter dynamic in a witty and lighthearted fashion.
In I Hate My Teenage Daughter, the fathers of the teens have small supporting roles. The absent parents are played by
Eric Sheffer Stevens and
Chad Coleman. The men attempt to involve themselves in the parenting and disciplining of the daughters. However, the strenuous relationship with the mothers makes those attempts unsuccessful and exasperates the already awkward situation. Each father's time on screen is riddled with one-liners and high energy banter, leaving the more emotion parts of the program to the female cast.
Adding a little spice to the mix is
Kevin Rahm's character Jack, who plays the uncle of one of the girls. Jack is the only successful one of the bunch and never misses a chance to be condescending or rude about it.
I Hate My Teenage Daughter is directed by
Andy Ackerman and stars Kristi Lauren and Aisha Dee as the privileged and manipulative teens.
