Airing September 22, 2004 on ABC, the TV series, Lost, premiered. Introducing an intricate ensemble cast, Lost portrays the journey of multiple characters who are stranded on an island in the South Pacific after surviving a plane crash. This cast has changed considerably throughout the seasons, as characters have died off or new characters have emerged.
Entering its sixth season, Lost has captured audience members of all generations and continues to surprise viewers with unexpected twists and turns. Created by Damon Lindelof, J. J. Abrams and Jeffrey Lieber, the concept of Lost was taken from past show ideas like Survivor, Cast Away, Lord of the Flies, and Gilligan's Island. The shows complexity stems from a supernatural element and "bible" concept that has been interwoven into the characters and plot.
Filming in Oahu, Hawaii, costs for production have been one of the most expensive in television today; luckily, the show has compensated with its amazing mass audience and record making critical and commercial successes.
