Married With Children is a sitcom about the Bundy family - a very dysfunctional working class family living in the suburbs of Chicago. It ran for 11 seasons from 1987 to 1997 and was one of the first American sitcoms to satirize television sitcoms and the happy families they portray.

The Bundy family is compromised of: Al (played by Ed O'Neill) - bumbling, opinionated family patriarch and a women's shoe salesman whose glory days of high school football are long gone; Peggy (played by Katey Sagal) - mother and wife, who deftly manages to avoid all the responsibilities those two roles normally require; Kelly (played by Christina Applegate) - the blonde, dim-witted daughter; and Bud (played by David Faustino) - the youngest and only son, the smartest of the Bundy’s and despite his rabid interest, never has any look with girls.

The Married With Children cast also included their neighbors - Marcy D'arcy, her first husband Steve Rhoades, and in later series, her second husband Jefferson D'arcy.

The show, which often featured toilet humor, did not win any awards, except for awards for technical merit. However, Ed O'Neill and Katey Sagal both won Golden Globes for Best Actor/Actress in a Comedy or Musical Series for their roles in Married With Children.
