The show Masterchef is a cooking show competition that airs on the Fox Network. It stars Gordon Ramsay who is known for his foul mouth and exciting cooking reality shows. Ramsay also stars in the Fox hit shows, “Kitchen Nightmares” and “Hell’s Kitchen”. Masterchef takes a different approach to competitive cooking shows. The contestants are all typically home chefs that have other careers outside of cooking.

The show has two other judges besides Gordon Ramsay. These judges are Graham Elliot and Joe Bastianich. Graham Elliot is a very well-known chef and Joe Bastianich has owned many restaurants and makes many different wines. All three of these men have decades of experience in The Business and bring their culinary knowledge to the table to pick a winner and a loser each week.

The first few episodes of the show are auditions for the contestants. Each week people who audition are asked to cook their signature dish for the judges and then a taste test determines who gets to continue on in the audition process and who is eliminated and must return home. When the field of contestants is finally narrowed down to fourteen the actual competition begins. Then, each week there is two challenges and the contestant who loses the elimination challenge is sent home. When the competition is finally down to two contestants they are both challenged to create an entire meal for the judges. The judges the judge each course individually and make a final determination as to who should be crowned Masterchef and receive the grand prize.
