Pretty Little Liars is a show, based on a popular novel that was first aired on ABC Family on June 8th, 2010. The main plot of the show is about the lives of four girls living in a small town called Rosewood. The four girls are named Aria Montgomery, who is played by
Lucy Hale, Hanna Marin, who is played by
Ashley Benson, Spencer Hastings, who is played by
Troian Bellisario, and Emily Fields, who is played by
Shay Mitchell. The ringleader of the girls' group, Alison DiLaurentis (portrayed by
Sasha Pieterse), goes missing from a slumber party and her body is later found. The four girls stick together during the show to look for clues and for more information regarding the death of their friend, Alison. A year after the finding of Alison's body, the four girls begin to receive anonymous text messages from an unknown source, nicknamed "A". "A" threatens to reveal secrets about the girls that they thought only Alison knew.
In 2010, Pretty Little Liars received a Teen Choice Award for "Choice Summer TV Show". In 2011, Pretty Little Liars was also nominated for a People's Choice Award for the Favorite TV Obsession, and was also nominated for a GLAAD Media Award for the Outstanding Drama Series.
