Private Practice is a show that has captivated audiences from its premiere. Private Practice is a spin off from Grey's Anatomy, also on ABC.

Dr. Addison Montgomery (Kate Walsh) came to Private Practice on the show's premiere from Grey's. She is a highly trained neonatal surgeon and board certified OB/GYN that is looking to escape the drama from her past by relocating to Southern California. Addison works closely with other doctors who believe in practicing alternative medicine at the Oceanside Wellness Group.

Other characters include Sam Bennett (Taye Diggs) an internal medicine specialist and head of the wellness group, his ex-wife Naomi Bennett (Audra McDonald) a fertility specialist. Cooper Freedman (Paul Adelstein) is a pediatrician who is always looking out for the best interest of his patients. Pete Wilder (Tim Daly) is the group's alternative medicine guru, offering a variety of herbal remedies for many ailments. Violet Turner (Amy Brenneman) is the psychiatrist who seems to do a lot of wondering about her efforts. Dell Parker (Chris Lowell) is the receptionist for the practice, although while answering phones, he is constantly keeping an eye on Naomi, who he secretly lusts after.

Episodes have ranged from child abuse, suicide, brain disease, miscarriages, transgender babies, airborne diseases, and many other interesting medical dramas.
