Scrubs is a TV show on ABC entering into its ninth season in Fall of 2009. The show was originally on NBC, but was purchased by ABC after its seventh season after NBC decided they were not going to be renewing the show. It is a half hour comedy about life working in a teaching hospital, Sacred Heart. The main character is Dr. John "J.D." Dorian. The show is through J.D.'s eyes, as the story frequently switches between real life and J.D.'s surreal daydreams, during which J.D. narrates through voice overs.

J.D. is an attending physician at Sacred Heart, who began working there as an intern fresh out of Medical school in season one. The show also follows J.D.'s on again off again girlfriend Elliot, J.D.'s best friend Turk and his wife Carla, as well as many other doctors in the hospital. The former Chief of medicine Dr. Kelso, the current chief of Medicine Dr. Cox, and the Janitor also play significant roles in the show.

In Scrubs' first Four Seasons, it was nominated for several casting, editing, and writing Emmys. Zach Braff was also nominated for best actor in a TV show musical or comedy for seasons four, five, and six. Unfortunately, the excellence of the show was not recognized as Scrubs did not win any of the awards. Finally, for the season six episode "My Musical" Scrubs won an Emmy for Outstanding Sound Mixing. The show did win 2002 and 2008 Humanitas Prizes and a 2006 Peabody Award.
