Summer Height Highs was produced for Australian television running from September 5th 2007 to October 24th 2007 for eight episodes.
Summer Height Highs plot is based upon three characters Ja’mie King,
Mr. G and Jonah Takulua. They are all played by the same person Chris Lilly who also wrote the series. None of the characters ever interact with each other. The show is based around life in an Australian high school for students along with staff members.
Ja’mie King is the classic mean popular girl. She is a transfer student and immediately makes friends with the most popular group of girls. She is known as mean and manipulative during the show. She makes jokes about her friends and is rough with her boyfriend.
Mr G is the drama teacher at school. He has a higher opinion of himself than most. His self involved ways gets him in constant conflict with other members of his staff. He also is known for losing his cool at his students during class.
Jonah Takalua played the trouble maker and was suspended from three other schools. He is not liked by teachers and is always a threat to be expelled. Throughout the show he marks the school with graffiti.
Summer Height Highs ended up winning the Logie Award and was a ratings success for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). The show was later sold to be to distributed on BBC Three in the UK, Comedy Network in Canada and HBO in the United States.
