The Bachelor is a reality television dating series that airs on ABC on Monday nights. The show has been wildly popular and has 13 seasons under its belt with the next on
The Way. The show is hosted by
Chris Harrison, a former game show host and anchor man.
In the past, The Bachelor has featured bachelors from a range of backgrounds including a fisherman, doctor, consultant, NFL player and other men who are sought after. 25 women compete for the chance to be the bachelor's potential wife in the end. The series follows the women and the bachelor on a number of group dates, one on one dates, hometown dates, and then finally the overnight date. The women are given a rose during the rose ceremony if they are chosen to stay on and continue the journey. Those that do not receive a rose are eliminated and must leave. The final woman to receive a rose has the opportunity to become engaged.
Not all bachelors in the past have proposed. Some have asked for more time to get to know each other, and some have not chosen any of the women at the end to pursue a future with. With only one bachelor and 25 women, the competition makes for great primetime TV!
