The first episode of The Bachelorette aired on ABC on January 8, 2003. It is hosted by
Chris Harrison. The object of this show is for The Bachelorette to find a love connection from a group of approximately 25 men. They travel to many exotic locations. Each episode includes group dates and single dates. The goal of the bachelor is to be given a rose by The Bachelorette which will allow them to stay for the next episode. The show reveals raw feelings and conflicts on the journey to find love. There is usually at least one controversial character in each season.
The following is a brief overview of the five seasons of The Bachelorette:
Season 1 (2003)
Trista Rehn fell in love with Ryan Sutter. The season’s final episode involved a televised wedding which was one of the most widely viewed broadcasts in the history of realty television. The couple happily resides in Vail, CO. They have 2 children.
Season 2 (2004)
Meredith Phillips selected Ian McKee. Their relationship ended in February 2005.
Season 3 (2005)
Jennifer Schefft selected Jerry Ferris during a live final rose ceremony. Jerry proposed to Jennifer, however she said no commenting there was no chemistry.
Season 4 (2008)
DeAnna Pappas selected Jesse Csincsak. Their wedding date was set for 2009; however a break up was announced in November of 2008.
Season 5 (2009)
Jillian Harris selected Ed Swiderski. Jillian plans to move to Chicago with Ed. They announced wedding plans will be made.
