Anchor Distilling, established in 1993, is dedicated to creating very small batches of traditionally distilled spirits of many types and styles, from single malt rye whiskey to distilled dry gin. We also experiment with completely new products from time to time. Our small distillery is located on San Francisco's Potrero Hill, under the same roof as Anchor Brewing Company, brewers of Anchor Steam® Beer since 1896. This video features brewer/distiller Fritz Maytag, owner and president of San Francisco's Anchor Brewing and Anchor Distilling Companies. He discusses the origins of America's first whiskey as well as Anchor's experiments in the early 1990s with rye malt and American oak barrels, which led to the release of Old Potrero® Single Malt Whiskeys. Old Potrero® Single Malt Whiskey, 62.3% Alc/Vol (124.6 Proof) and Old Potrero® Straight Rye Whiskey, 45% Alc/vol (90 Proof), are distilled, aged, and bottled by Anchor Distilling Co., San Francisco, CA. Junípero Gin, 49.3% Alc/vol (98.6 Proof), is distilled from 100% grain neutral spirits and bottled by Anchor Distilling Co., San Francisco, CA.
