Milk shower for Bahubali!
People shower milk and other subtances on Lord Mahavir as a part of their worship, in India. Statue of Lord Mahavir at Shravanabelagola, Bahubali (Gomateshwara), in Hassan, Karnataka, world's largest monolithic statue in stone, dating back a thousand years. Every 12 years, hundreds of thousands of devotees gather here to perform the Mahamastakabhisheka, a ceremony where the more-than-thousand-year-old statue is anointed with milk, curd, ghee, rose petals and saffron. The next Mahamastakabhisheka ceremony will be in 2018. The 17.38 meter high monolithic statue of Bhagavan Gomateshwara Bahubali, world's largest, was built by Chamundaraya, a general of king Gangaraya. The base of the statue has inscriptions in Kannada, and dates back to 981 AD.
