I refer you to the book "Warrior Arts of the Philippines" by Reynaldo S Galang. In that book, you will see Francisco, aka Sunny Cordilleras as an instuctor. Sunny has trained and learned from a Grand Master here the States (Charlotte, NC) and with different Grand Masters in The Philippines where he grew up (a mountain tribe in Kalinga). Yes, what Sunny teaches is not only Balintawak Arnis, but knowledge of other Filipino arts he has learned over the many decades of his life...which is an aspect of Cuentada...taking an artform, making it your own and passing it on. And you are right, Sinawali is a "warmup" we do, as are basic strikes and blocks, Heaven-Earth-Man, yoga, meditation, etc. We train in Balitawak and we do not stop there...others are correct as well, Balintawak is 1 stick, but what happens when you disarm someone and take their stick...you have two...now siniwali becomes a part of your arsenal.
