Indian Supreme Court rejected appeal to provide protection in Gujarat where people felt threatened by Hindu terrorists and the BJP who disliked Aamir Khan's legitimate humanitarian and legal concerns about the rehabilitation of villagers displaced by Narmada Dam project, and made the fim makers lose over 20 per cent income/revenue in the Indian state. Some segments of the film are copied from Ken Follett's 1978 spy thriller novel "Eye of the Needle," where the present-day Kashmiri insurgents and Indian girl are a German spy and an English girl. Some parts of this movie were filmed in the Tatra Mountains in southern Poland. It was also filmed at certain historical locations in Delhi, including the Red Fort, Jantar Mantar, Qutub Minar, Purana Qila and Lodhi Gardens.
