I recently was loaned an EX-1 to do a side-by-side comparison of it with our HVX200. The beginning of this video is that side-by-side footage. It shows a 2-3 stop advantage to the EX-1 and the glass also shows very little chromatic aberration. The rest of the video is the EX-1 in extreme contrast conditions and how well it was able to tackle extreme sunlight, low light, and bad color temperature mistakes. This was also a test for my post department the EX-1 creates a low rez proxie which allows them to edit SD and upconvert to HD on the final render, this is an emmense advantage to the P2 workflow of the HVX. I have always admired the HVX200. The company I work for owns 8 of them. Panasonic had better step up their game or they are going to loose monster market share when it comes the prosumer market. Sony designed the EX-1 to be a HVX200 killer and arguably they succeeded. Watch the video you be the judge.
