Need a Laugh? Watch SAFETY GEEKS: SVI

SAFETY GEEKS:SVI is the first comedy to make fun of the numerous procedural investigative shows on TV and does this in innovative ways.

The show features more effects shots than the first three Star Wars movies combined and more composited shots than the 1st Matrix… something one might expect for sci-fi, but not for a comedy.

SAFETY GEEKS:SVI is the comic adventures of a semi-elite force of safety experts; the P.O.S.H. (Professional Occupational Safety Hazard) team. Obsessed with making the world and bits of Canada safer, the CSI-like team investigates accidents to find out what went wrong and who is to blame. Ironically, their involvement causes far more damage than they prevent, leaving a trail of chaos and destruction in their wake. P.O.S.H. offers an obscure, detailed and well-meaning service—unfortunately, they are a bunch of idiots.

IN THE LIFE to Broadcast First Mini-series: “SUMMER OF STONEWALL”

IN THE LIFE, the only national public television program documenting the people and issues shaping the gay experience, kicks-off June Pride with “Summer of Stonewall,” a summer-long three-part mini-series celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots.

Premiering in 1992, before “Ellen,” “Will and Grace,” or “Logo,” IN THE LIFE debuted at a time when LGBT people saw few authentic reflections of themselves on television. Next month, IN THE LIFE pays tribute to Stonewall -- the beginning of the modern lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) movement -- with the first episode in the series, “40th Anniversary of Stonewall.”

This special hour-long episode features reflections and firsthand accounts from activists, like, Cleve Jones (The AIDS Memorial Quilt), Lady Bunny (Wigstock founder, pop icon), Larry Kramer (Act-Up, GMHC), Phyllis Lyon (The Ladder), Torie Osborn (Senior Advisor, Mayor Villaraigosa, Los Angeles) who have worked in the LGBT movement over the last 40 years, and new leaders inspired by our current political climate, will begin airing nationally June 1st. Exploring the history of the movement from a variety of angles, the June special takes a look at the proliferation of LGBT social justice organizations, the cost of coming out young, and queer communication from flyers to blogs.

Farewell Old Friend, Bud.TV Runs Dry

We were quick to report on Anheuser-Busch's plan to launch Bud.TV back in September of 2006. However, like all good things they must come to an end. After two years Bud.TV has run dry and Anheuser-Busch pulled the tap from its live and on-demand programming network. As of last Wednesday a message informs visitors that the site has closed and directs people to Budweiser.com and Budlight.com.

Bud.TV went live in January 2007 after much fanfare following the 2007 Super Bowl to target younger, drinking-age men. The site featured 24-hour live and on-demand programing content, such as Webisodes, sporting events, consumer generated content, field reports, celebrity interviews, music downloads and comedians. Although the average visitor spent seven minutes each time logged in the website had seen a dramatic drop in traffic.
