Putting together two of the most popular genres of the last several years, Body of Proof is a combination between a crime procedural and a medical drama.
Dana Delany plays Dr. Megan Hunt, a medical examiner with a past career as a talented neurosurgeon.
Jeri Ryan also stars as Philadelphia's Chief Medical Examiner. The two women shine in this remarkably female-centric television show.
The cases on Body of Proof revolve around solving mysteries based on clues gained from examining the deceased victims. Dr. Hunt uses her knowledge gained from working as a neurosurgeon, a career she left out of necessity when a motor vehicle accident left her with a slight disability. "You can't kill somebody if they're already dead," she says. She leaves behind not only her job but an ex-husband and a young daughter, with whom she has a strained relationship. During the show, she makes efforts to repair the relationship, mostly at the urging of Peter Dunlop (played by
Nicholas Bishop), an ex-police officer and her partner in these investigations.
Other members of the cast include a team of co-workers at the Medical Examiner's office and a pair of capable homicide detectives. Overall, Body of Proof is a show to watch if you enjoy either the legal or the medical aspects of crime-solving.
