Camelot views the legend of King Arthur with a modern lens, giving equal power and focus to the male and female characters and incorporating the sex and violence that is a hallmark of pay cable. It includes most of the characters you love, Arthur, Merlin, Guinevere, Morgan, and the knights of the round table.
The show opens with Arthur (
Jamie Campbell Bower, The Twilight Saga: New Moon) as a young man thrust onto the throne by the death of his father. His half-sister Morgan (
Eva Green, Casino Royale) believes she has a stronger claim to the throne than Arthur, so she spends much of her time working to claim her birthright.
In contrast with the typical Arthur legend, Camelot shifts Arthur out of the role of cuckold. His lady love Guinevere (
Tamsin Egerton, Driving Mum) marries Arthur's friend Leontes (
Philip Winchester, Fringe), even though she develops feelings for Arthur on the eve of her wedding.
Merlin (
Joseph Fiennes, Shakespeare in Love) is the glue the binds all of these characters and the puppet master who manipulates them into fulfilling his wishes.
Each episode of Camelot offers intrigue, action, and impressive scenery, set pieces, and cinematography, ensuring that viewers will find something to love, whether they are fans of the legend or just have a passing interest.
