Premiering in June of 2005, the Closer is a popular crime drama on TNT. It centers around Deputy Chief Brenda Lee Johnson, a Georgia police detective who arrives in Los Angeles to lead the city's Priority Murder Squad. Throughout the seasons, changes have been made to the show including the name of the police unit as well as its focus. But through it all, Brenda and her idiosyncrasies have remained the same.

Portrayed to perfection by Kyra Sedgwick, Deputy Chief Brenda Lee Johnson has enough quirks to satisfy even the most demanding viewer. She is enjoyable to watch and easy to empathize with as she battles her junk food addiction and peri-menopausal problems.

Joined by notable actors such as J.K. Simmons of Law & Order fame, Corey Reynolds, Robert Gossett, G.W. Bailey (famous for his Police Academy role), and Tony Denison, the Closer's Sedgwick is able to portray a strong and appealing female character. She has been nominated every year for several different awards. In 2007 she won the Golden Globe for best performance by an actress in a TV series.

The Closer has remained a popular series since its inception. Every year since its third season it has been ad-supported cable's most viewed series of all time, a fact to be proud of for series creators James Duff and the Shephard/Robin Companyn in association with Warner Bros Television.

The Closer's ratings remain strong. It is popular on DVD as well. Hopefully it will be around for seasons to come.
