Based on The Southern Vampire Mysteries series of novels by author Charlaine Harris, True Blood is an HBO television show that has grown into a cult hit. Taking place in Bon Temp, Louisianna, the world of True Blood is a world in which vampires have come out into the open to live among us humans. Sookie Stackhouse (played by
Anna Paquin) is a telepathic waitress at a local bar who falls in love with Bill Compton (played by
Stephen Moyer), a vampire living in Bon Temps. This love affair causes trouble for the couple, and Sookie is forced to deal with a myriad of characters, both human and supernatural, as her and Bill's life becomes more complicated.
This myriad of characters on True Blood brings some much needed life back into cable television. The talented cast of actors that surround Sookie and Bill are sure to keep viewers hooked for many a summer night. Alexander Skarsgard, who plays the vampire sheriff Eric Northman, possesses both the acting skills to captivate, as well as the good looks to bring female viewers back week after week.
Ryan Kwanten, who plays Sookie's brother Jason, has cut his acting teeth in horror movies and brings that experience to the small screen perfectly. The producers of True Blood also found a very special talent in
Nelsan Ellis, who plays Lafayette Reynolds, the homosexual jack of all trades, including selling the hot drug V (vampire blood).
