Set in New York City, Without A Trace offers suspense and an opportunity to become part of a missing persons case with the FBI. Each episode begins with someone missing and as the hours pass the team begins to pick up on clues and tries to get to the missing person before it's too late; tension rises with every hour that passes by.

With a strong team made up of Jack Malone (Special Agent in charge), Vivian Johnson (Special Agent), Samantha Spade (Special Agent), Danny Taylor (Special Agent), Martin Fitzgerald (Special Agent), and Elena Delgado (Special Agent), each episode builds on one or more characters personal life creating an underlying story line as each case is worked.

Relationships begin to evolve, like Samantha Spade and Martin Fitzgerald or Elena Delgado and Danny Taylor; and as personal feelings get mixed in with emotional cases the suspense and character interest builds. Jack Malone acts as the main catalyst of the show, often crossing the line and making decisions based on the survival of the missing person rather than adhering to code. Putting his team in danger or saving the day, Jack Malone is unpredictable, but if I had a missing child I would want him on the case.

Produced by the renowned Jerry Bruckheimer, Without A Trace aired in 2002 as part of the CBS Fall line-up. Finally giving ER some competition, Without A Trace quickly rose the charts and consistently captured new viewers. In 2003, TNT acquired syndicated rights to air reruns of the show, expanding their audience base.

Though the show was affected by the Writers' Guild of America strike, it came back in full force in September 2008 for season seven. In 2003, Without A Trace took home an Emmy for Outstanding Art Direction for a Single Camera Series and for Outstanding Guest Actor (Charles S. Dutton). From 2003-2006, Without A Trace has been the winner of the ASCAP award for Top TV Series and in 2008, Roslyn Sanchez (Elena Delgado) was the winner of the ALMA award.
