X-Play is a video game show that has ruled the ratings on America’s G4, a cable station dedicated exclusively to video games. In part, this is due to the very funny comedy clips and skits that are featured on the show alongside all the video game news and action. This incarnation of X-Play is actually a combination of two shows.
The main focus of X-play is its in depth video game reviews and news. The on-screen hosts relay the top news of the video game world, in a way that is both informative and entertaining. It is the zany comedy sketches, and very unique sense of humor, that sets X-Play apart from the rest of the video game news and review shoes on the television landscape.
When X-Play first started out, it was on a channel called ZDTV (which is now TechTV) back in 1998, and went by the name GameSpot TV. ZDTV created a video game program of their own called Extended Play, but that show was canned and combined with GameSpotTV. The show went under the moniker Extended Play from 2001 – 2003, when it became X-Play.
In front of the cameras at X-Play, you will find some great, young talents.
