Everyone knows the theme song “Bad Boys”. Yeah, you know what I’m talking about: COPS. The hard hitting, action packed original reality show where real cops chase real bad guys. COPS began in 1989, originally created by John and Morgan Langley, and has been filmed in cities all over America, including a "Coast to Coast" season airing July of 2009. COPS has been going strong for over a decade and shows no sign of stopping.
Who doesn’t love that drama, as long as you aren’t the person being arrested? That’s why COPS holds a coveted 8 PM ET slot on FOX every Saturday night. The premise of the show is simple. A television crew follows police officers during their shift. COPS provides officers with a chance to show the public they aren’t the bad guys and gives everyone a chance to see how tough the job really is. Often times COPS shows criminal being arrested slinging curses at the officers and camera person. Other times the police officer is simply trying to help someone turn their life around. COPS shows the gritty reality of police work.
The camera person rides along with officers, usually on the night, to film every moment good or bad. The camera man is nothing more than a camera man. While he does wear a Kevlar vest the camera man is in the same danger as the police officers. COPS is a show not to be missed if only for the adrenaline filled drama and hilarious criminals!
